UNH takes on Vermont for shot at NECBA Playoffs

The UNH Baseball team comes into the final weekend of play with a shot at squeeking into the NECBA Playoffs; all they have to do is sweep the University of Vermont when they play a double header on Sunday October 17 starting at 12 at Niver Field.

 The Wildcats will have their hands full as the Catamounts are 8-0 and have an average win margin of 9.9 runs per game. They have scored 91 runs and only given up 12 for a differential of +79. UNH will lean heavily on starters Mike Piekielek and Chris Celi. Piekielek who started the first half of the season on the disabled list has come on strong the second half of the season; in two starts he is 2-0 with a 2.18 earned run average and striking out 13. Celi has been solid all year long going 3-0 in four starts with a 2.63 earned run average. Celi has had three consecutive complete games including a complete game, two hit shut out against the University of Maine. UNH is 6-0 in games in which Celi or Piekielek has started.
