Semi FInals UNH 4 NHTI 2
In the semi final game the Wildcats met with a familiar foe, NHTI; UNH beat NHTI four times over the course of the regular season and were looking to make it five in a row. From the get-go it was a pitchers duel; UNH starter Dan Kraft (Redding, MA) went the distance giving up two runs, only one of which was earned while striking out four and only allowing four hits.
The Wildcats took advantage of the good pitching performance and got on the board early as Mike RIccardi (Waitsfield, VT) would come around to score on Ryan Feeney (Derry, NH) single. UNH would put another run on the board in the third as Zach Hutton (Bennington, NH) would touch home thanks to a single by Riccardi.
After NHTI scored two runs to tie the game on a two run triple the Wildcats would come back and put two more runs on the board thanks to singles by both Feeney and Riccardi. The two run lead would prove to be enough for Kraft as the Wildcats won 4-2 and advanced to the finals.
Dan Solomon (Concord, NH), Feeney, and Riccardi all had two hits on the day for the Wildcats.
Finals UNH 1 SMCC 0
After a great pitching performance in the first game, Freshman Jay Belinskas (Worcester, MA) would not only match Kraft's performance but he would out do his performance. Belinskas also threw a complete game, but would allow no runs on four hits while striking out four. Thanks to superb defense by the Wildcat's, Belinskas was able to hold the Seawolves off and not allow them to score.
UNH's only run came in the fourth inning as senior captain Matt Keene (Berlin, NH) hit aa RBI single up the middle to score Basque. That run would prove to be enough as the Wildcat's won 1-0.
Keene went 2 for 3, while Mike Levy (North Andover, MA) and Andrew Gordon (Goffstown, NH) had the other two hits on the game.
