Keene Named NECBA MVP Basque & Bates All Stars

Today the New England Club Baseball Association has announced its awards for the fall season and three Wildcats earned recognition. Senior, Captain Matt Keene (Berlin, NH) was honored as the League's MVP with Junior Andy Basque (Westborough, MA) and Freshman Adam Bates (North Andover, MA) earning a spot on the League's All Star Team.

 

Bates had a solid freshman season coming out of the bullpen and making spot starts when called upon. In NECBA play, Bates finished with a 3-0 record, a 1.67 ERA, while striking out 11 in 9 appearances. Basque is making his second appearance on the NECBA All Star Team as he was named in his freshman campaign; Basque hit .416 with 13 RBI and 1 Home Rin in 12 NECBA games. Senior Matt Keene is also making his second appearance on the All Star team as he was Named League MVP. Keene hit .485 with 17 RBI and 2 Home Runs in 11 NECBA Games this season.

When asked about the accolades, Basque had this to say "It's an honor to be named to the All Star Team. I thank my coaches and teammates for constantly pushing me to work hard and play my best. Hopefully in the Spring I can pick up where I left off and have another great season.  ". Keene added, "It was a great year and the only way it would have been better is if we took home the championship. I am honored to recieve this award but it wouldn't have been posisble without the support of my coaches and teammates."
